A Feel Good Moment Worth Sharing
Brian Perley is a young adult with autism. Along with his parents Chris and Vicki, they have been looking for a mountain home in the White Mountains for several months with specific needs designed around providing Brian and themselves a safe and comfortable getaway.
Our search was primarily in the towns of Bartlett and Jackson, but anything with the right floor plan was not overlooked. They desired stunning views, open living area that provided separate but adjoining living spaces for them and Brian, and sleeping arrangement that too provided some relative closeness to monitor Brian at night, but separate enough to allow for privacy for both.
We enjoyed viewing some of the areas nicest properties, and each seemed to hold some of the qualities the Perley’s were looking for, but not all. We found jaw dropping vistas, with a floor plan that may require an addition to be built. We found great open living areas, but bedrooms not accommodating their wishes. Even the thought of buying a wonderful home lot and building the house that fit them perfectly was considered. We pressed on.
While participating in my morning ritual of good coffee and a perusal of the MLS for new listings and other relevant happenings in our local market, a new listing appeared, and I clicked through all the information available.
Views? Excellent
Layout? Seems to have what they are looking for.
Location? Borders White Mountain National Forrest, that’s a real bonus.
Price? In the buyers range and priced reasonably for the market.
I immediately forwarded the listing sheet to Chris, and his response was “WOW! We will be up this weekend, can we see it Saturday?”
As we toured the property, it was becoming readily apparent that we had found the right home for the Perley’s. Brian settled in to the couch overlooking the beautiful view to the Moats watching the Fall breeze rustle the leaves along the lawn and in the trees and was mesmerized by the movement of color outside the windows. The home was comfortable, warm and peaceful. Its design was ideal for the Perely’s needs and we left with a feeling of accomplishment that the right home had been located.
We went back to my office where we drew up an offer and submitted it promptly. We had some concerns as the house had only been on the marleket a couple of days. Were there other offers on the way? Would ours be strong enough for the sellers to sign quickly? Despite the fact we had a strong offer, there was still anxious moments while we waited for the word.
The word came the following morning that the offer was accepted and the signed agreement was being delivered to my office. I waited until I had them in hand to call Vicki and let her know we had made the deal. Her voice was a bit shakey as she acknowledged the fact that the home they had long searched for was going to become a reality. I felt and shared in her joy.
I love my job. It affords me with great flexibility in scheduling to enjoy all the wonderful things our area has to offfer. I meet wonderful people and help them with the biggest purchase they may ever make in their lifetime. I also have special moments like this one with the Perleys that help to remind me what buying a property can do to help make the lives of a family just a little bit better.
I would love to help your home ownership dream a reality as well. Call me for all the answers to your real estate questions. My promise is to answer your call, or return it with an hour. Give it a try!
